Grace Ellen

Grace’s large scale paintings have a focus on light and texture and she creates lifelike landscapes with an immersive quality.

This collection celebrates some of Grace’s favourite painting locations, from winding Surrey rivers to the sparkling Cornish coastline.

Light and water are central themes throughout and the large scale pieces invite viewers to immerse themselves in the scene. Initially capturing each location through her photography, Grace creates satisfying, balanced compositions which play with the rule of thirds and balance. These act as reference materials which are then romanticised during the painting process. Often using a palette knife and texture mediums Grace adds raised details which give each piece a tactile quality.
