Liz Bernard’s vibrant, evocative landscapes and seascapes in acrylic and mixed media and ceramics. Exhibiting with Joanna Lloyd (glass maker), Louise Rowe (painter)
Liz Bernard’s new work has been inspired by her garden, having not ventured very far from home in these strange times. Much of her work is textured and brightly coloured, hoping to give an uplift to everyone’s spirits as we head into Spring and Summer. Liz’s pottery is inspired by the shapes of Grayson Perry’s pots and more recently by Kitty Shepherd’s Ginger jars. she loves building large vessels and using her drawing / painting skills to decorate them.
Joanna Lloyd is a glass artist specialising in cast glass, involving complex and multiple moulding processes, cold working and polishing. Joanna’s work is informed by earlier careers as an archaeologist and a landscape planner. She is inspired by the environment and the layers beneath our feet. Joanna uses plants, nature and found objects to create unique pieces of thick cast glass relief that are decorative and functional. Joanna studied glass making at the University of the Creative Arts completing a BA and MA. She was Artist in Residence there 2016-17.
Louise Rowe works in freestyle water colour, inks and acrylics to bring realistic and imagined effects to her paintings. She has a passion for colour as well as modern interpretations of still life objects. Louise likes to use everyday subjects such as discarded shoes, boots and picked vegetables and turns them into larger than life representations of themselves. These strong images bounce out of their frames and grab attention in any setting. Her popular small pen and ink drawings are placed together to make one larger picture. These ‘thumb print’ pictures are an original interpretation of current life and have featured in The Royale Institute of watercolours annual exhibitions
